Spice: Cayenne Pepper

The cayenne pepper, also known as the Guinea spice, cow-horn pepper, red hot chili pepper, aleva, bird pepper, or, especially in its powdered form, red pepper, is a cultivar of Capsicum annuum related to bell peppers, jalapeños, paprika, and others. It is a hot chili pepper used to flavor dishes. It is named for the city of Cayenne in French Guiana

The fruits are generally dried and ground, or pulped and baked into cakes, which are then ground and sifted to make the powdered spice of the same name. Cayenne is used in cooking spicy dishes and it is also used as an herbal supplement. Cayenne pepper, by weight, is high in vitamin A. It also contains vitamin B6, vitamin E, vitamin C, riboflavin, potassium, and manganese.

I chose this spice because it can give some useful health benefits that can help you in your everyday life and would not cost you money. Some of the benefits are:

It has Anti-Irritant Properties wherein it has the ability to ease upset stomach, ulcers, sore throats, spasmodic and irritating coughs, and diarrhea. Anti-Cold and Flu Agent, it aids in breaking up and moving congested mucus. Once mucus begins to leave the body, relief from flu symptoms generally follows. Digestive Aid, It stimulates the digestive tract, increasing the flow of enzyme production and gastric juices. This aids the body’s ability to metabolize food (and toxins). Supports Weight Loss, it is a great metabolic-booster, aiding the body in burning excess amounts of fats. Promotes Heart-Health, it helps to keep blood pressure levels normalized. It also balances the body of LDL cholesterol and triglycerides. Remedy for Toothache, it is an excellent agent against tooth and gum diseases.

I choose to make a Mexican Chocolate Avocado Mousse wherein I used organic and healthy for the body ingredients. Also it is very easy to make so you don’t have to worry in making a mistake and if you want to be healthy you have to make these because it is so delicious.
